Happy September everyone! Jackie here from LetsHomeschoolHighschool.com. Back to school time is finally here for most everyone. I know many of you actually started in August and some of you school year round, but the buzz is everywhere. The season is marked with exciting back to school sales on supplies and clothes, tax-free weekends, purchasing new curriculum, freshening up your classroom spaces, trying new teaching ideas, joining new support groups or co-ops…
This back to school season is exciting for my school hating daughter as well, of course her main source of excitement is knowing she only has two more years to go. She is using the new Time4Learning high school courses. I breathed a huge sigh of relief because she honestly likes doing them. She says they are actually interesting and they move fast. We have also done some much needed back to school clothes shopping even though it wasn’t because of back to school…just needed a few new clothes. I will wait for whatever school supplies we might need (actually more of a want than a need–love school supplies) until they begin to close them out….can’t resist clearance sales!
I am still in the planning mode for any supplements we might add. I know we will continue using Drive Thru History, but not so sure about anything else. I am also working on figuring out how to word life skills course descriptions and titles on the transcript. I am such a black/white thinker it makes it very challenging sometimes. Can any of you relate to that?
By now you have probably guessed that the theme for this month is Back-to-School. I’ve given you a small glimpse into mine, now tell me about yours. What are you and your teens up to? What new adventures will you embark upon? What lessons have you learned and are willing to share to make someone else’s back to school more successful? Did you revamp your classroom space(s)?
