November 2013 Giveaway – Homeschool Programming

ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED ON THIS GIVEAWAY

The changing landscape of the American workforce is in the news almost every week. One statistic states that jobs in the technology field are growing up to three times faster than other career fields. With that in mind, more and more public and private high schools are beginning to offer courses in programming, website design, and networking.

If your homeschooler has an interest in technology, there is no reason she or he should be left behind. The KidCoder and TeenCoder computer science curriculum from Homeschool Programming, Inc. will teach 4th – 12th grade students how to write their own computer programs, games, and Android applications! They are able to learn Java, C#, and Visual Basic in a fun, hands-on, age-appropriate format. Projects come to life on their computer. No teacher expertise required!

And this month at LetsHomeschoolHighschool.com we are partnering with Homeschool Programming, Inc. to give two lucky commenters the one-semester TeenCoder or KidCoder programming course of their choice (plus supporting materials), an $85-90 value. Students can learn HTML, Java, C#, Visual Basic, Windows programming, game programming, Android app creation, and website design!

The KidCoder Series of Visual Basic courses for 4th-8th grade is light-hearted and easy-to-learn, with plenty of detailed examples and guidance to keep your student on the right track. This series is geared for younger students or those just trying out the field of computer programming to see if they like it.

The TeenCoder C# Series and TeenCoder Java Series for 9th-12th grade are for older students looking for a more in-depth study of computer programming. These courses can be used for high school computer elective credit, enhancing transcripts, and preparing a college-bound student for a technical degree.

***Be sure to also check out the demonstration videos and read the sample pages for each course to see what computer programming is all about!***

I am homeschooling my 5 children, and have been doing so for over 5 years. I run a FB Homeschool Group online, which allows me to share program options with other families that Homeschool as well. I would like this item for my 12 year old son. He is very eager to be a programmer when he grows up. He has gone through every programming site we have found online and at the library, and has not been able to find ANYTHING that challenges him.....YET. I am very eager to try this program, and if it helps him, get programs for my other children as well to give them a head start into a career he is interested in pursuing. He was enrolled in Public School prior to homeschooling and was in a VERY abusive situation with a Public School teacher and being at home and pursuing his dreams has been made a HUGE difference in his life. I look forward to giving him this opportunity of pursuing his life long dream of being a programmer using your program. Thank you for the consideration and opportunity.

I really want my girls to be independent and have the opportunity to be business owners instead of having to work for a corporation if they don't want to.

I think having basic website skills is crucial in today's market and certainly opens many opportunities for you. It's one area that I can't really teach them, so this would be wonderful!
