Summer is here with all its wonder. The hot days, long warm nights, and lots of fun with friends has begun. The only thing is, we all have expectations of summer and they usually don’t play out. As teens, we plan to spend most of our days with our friends at the beach, at the pool, at the movies, playing video games, etc, but what do we usually end up doing? Spending most of our days browsing social media or Netflix binging. Am I right?
For those determined teens who would rather not fall into this summer trap again, here are some fun summer activities to keep you busy and making the most of your time.
-Have a river nearby? Grab a life vest or some pool noodles and float it!
-Text a friend or two and head to the pool.
-Likewise, take a friend or two (or ten) and head to the beach for some splashing, sun-tanning, volleyball, dancing, and more.
-Go on a hike. Hiking is such a great way to get some Vitamin D, some exercise, and some fresh air.
-Claim the basement as yours for the night and invite your friends over for a guys or girls night. A guys night would more than likely consist of video games and snacks. A girls night could consist of face masks and hair masks, yoga, nail polish, movies, body scrubs, snacks, smoothies/juicing/shakes/sundaes, and social media fun. Better yet, make it a sleepover.
-On that note, host a movie night. If you can find a projector and speaker, it’d be fun to host it outside on the lawn/driveway. If not, the living room works just fine. Have everyone bring snacks and enjoy!
-If there’s a good movie out, get a group of friends (or even just one friend) together for a trip to the movie theater or drive-in.
-Conquer that to-be-read mountain by grabbing your books, a pair of sunglasses, and heading to your favorite outdoor reading spot.
-Game nights. You can involve the whole family with this one! Invite lots of people over for a game night and have everyone bring a snack. Game ideas: Charades, Spoons, Signs, Catch Phrase, board games, Egyptian Rat Slap, Jack Slap, Murder in the Dark…. Or, mix it up a little and make it a video game night with a bowling or Mario Kart competition!
-Grab a friend or two and head to the bowling alley!
If you want to know some summer hacks, this video and this video have some fantastic ideas. I totally can’t believe I never thought of those before! Here’s another video with great ideas of things to do if you’re bored this summer. Enjoy, and happy summer! This is by far my favorite time of the year.
