Homeschooling allows students to get the education they need, tailored to their interests and real life. It is becoming increasingly popular for colleges and universities to accept homeschoolers because of their uniqueness and ability to stand out amongst traditionally schooled students. Why? Homeschoolers are using what is around them to make it their classroom and learn to adapt in the real world.
These skills homeschoolers are learning and using can be a deciding factor when choosing the university or college to attend. Each university and college specialize in something different. Make sure to research which college aligns with your students’ passions.
We have compiled a list of universities and colleges in Washington state that accept homeschoolers. Listed below are the requirements needed for homeschoolers to apply to the specific institution. We try to regularly update this page as more and more colleges and universities are becoming homeschool friendly.
Seattle University, founded in 1891, is a Jesuit Catholic university located on 50 acres in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. There is over 7,200 students that are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate
programs within eight schools and colleges. There are 65 undergraduate degree programs and many additional minors and specializations. Seattle University welcomes applicants who have received their education through homeschooling experiences. They are understanding traditional schooling does not fit every student, and therefore accept homeschoolers.
Requirement 1- Complete homeschool questions on Common Application
Requirement 2- Submit Official High School Transcript
Requirement 3- Two letters of recommendation, one from counselor and an additional one from non-relative
Requirement 4- Submit assessment scores
Central Washington University, home of the Wildcats, is a four-year university located in historic Ellensburg, Washington. Requirement 3- Completion of CADR courses
Requirement 4- Submit GED or evidence of completion of high school
Eastern Washington University is located in the city of Cheney, WA, a thriving small-town community located 17 miles southwest of Spokane. The community provides a rural, family-friendly atmosphere and home to the Eagles. At Eastern Washington University, homeschooled students are encouraged to apply and join the welcoming campus that respects diversity and has been built on strong inclusion and leadership. EWU remains the best value for higher education in the state.
