College Application Checklist

Your College Application Checklist

Many colleges have their application deadlines in either December or January of your senior year for entrance consideration for the next school year. And of course, as a homeschooler, you’re likely doing this whole college application thing without the help of a dedicated guidance counselor. So what things are the most important to remember when putting together those final documents?

Here’s a handy checklist of items to be double...okay...triple sure you’re ready before working through your list of college applications.

  • □ Your printed application OR link to the dedicated online application
  • □ The college application deadline (be sure, if mailing, to send AT LEAST 2 weeks prior to deadline)
  • □ Your homeschool high school transcript (don’t have it created yet? use this free template)
  • □ A copy of your SAT/ACT scores (if required by your college of choice)
  • Letter(s) of recommendation (if required by your college of choice)
  • Application essay (if required by your college of choice)
  • □ Application fee (if required by your college of choice)
  • □ Financial information if applying for financial aid

Some colleges will have specific application requests above and beyond the list above, so be sure to read each school’s requirements thoroughly. Even one omission in your application can mean the difference in acceptance versus denial. If you have other questions about the college application process, don’t hesitate to drop by the forum and ask for advice.
