College visits - Q's to ask

DD and I are heading out on college visits starting this spring. We'll be doing the typical tour with a matriculating students and checking out the dorms. We are also hoping to visit a class or two.

We've developed a set of questions to ask, but we wondered if we were missing anything. Here's what we have so far:

    1) what clubs/activities are there?

    2) what % of students stay on campus over the weekends?

    3) what is the graduation and placement rate in her major?

    4) what opportunities are there for part-time work?

We visited two colleges this spring. DD is interested in two more, but they are in NYC and a bit of a haul. Our agreement is that she applies to them; if she gets accepted, then we visit so that she can make a better decision.

The first school was an in-state Big 10 school; it's her safety school. It was okay. Not a lot of discussion about academics went on, though. The second school is also Big 10, but out of state. It's program for what she wants to do is usually rated #1 in the country. We really liked the campus generally and the professors and staff in here program specifically. Personally, I'm hoping that's where she'll pick to go, as it's only 4 hours away. But that's just a mom talkin' ......
